There is a choir that moves around the audience playing the melodeon and sings ‘Shark Family’ song for the younger audience and ‘Tesshyung’ song for the adults.
The Changwon City Chorale held the ‘2024 Veranda Concert’ on the special stage in the lawn plaza of Yongji I-Park Apartment at 7:30 pm on April 16.
When I think of a veranda concert, I remember how during the corona pandemic, a vocalist would sing on the veranda and neighbors would listen and cheer from other verandas.’The Changwon City Chorale’s veranda concert’ is also receiving great response to enjoy choir and popular songs outdoors or on the veranda of an apartment building.
This year’s ‘Veranda Concert’ began with a greeting from Mayor Hong Nam-pyo at the special stage in the lawn plaza of Yongji I-Park Apartment .Mayor Hong said, “I hope that this veranda concert will be a valuable time to deliver a message of healing and hope through music in our busy daily lives, and we will work harder to ensure that citizens can enjoy culture and arts in their daily lives.”
The Changwon City Chorale’s ‘Veranda Concert’, which began in 2020 while wearing masks during the coronavirus pandemic, was held this spring to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Changwon’s designation as a national industrial complex. Artistic director Gong gi-tae conducted the performance, and Jo Bok-hyeon hosted the event.The choir performed on a special outdoor stage. presented a complete and classy performance.
‘Holo Arirang ’ was performed jointly by Taepyeongso, Korean traditional trumpet. I was disappointed with just one song because of its special charm, but as if people have the same thoughts as me , they played Taepyeongso’s solo performance ‘ 500 Years’ as the next song. The symphony orchestra players, violin (Kim Hye-jin) and cello (Kim Yu-mi), who played ‘Let’t it go’ ‘A piazzola’, received even louder applause when they were introduced as residents of the I-Park Apartments.
Sung by people all over the world ‘Shark Family’ . ‘Girl’, which brings back memories of middle and high school days as soon as you hear the accompaniment, ‘Hero’, famous for its musicals, and ‘As You Live’, where the female soloist’s singing ability stood out. It was a concert with many outstanding selections.
The encore songs ‘Cherry Blossom Ending’ and ‘Tess Hyung’, which received a warm response, were like unexpected gifts.
Like everything else in the world, performances are made up of countless ‘choices’. Should performance planners hold the performance in a large theater? Should I do it outdoors? Will I be impressed with a difficult song that highlights our skills? Should I choose a familiar song? Because of these concerns, I may have ‘chosen’ the veranda concert. Will the audience also see the performance? Should I not? You can make a ‘choice’. Where is the Veranda Concert held? Wouldn’t it be difficult? It was an opportunity for audience members who said they couldn’t go because they had a baby to ‘choose’ the performance. Also, the performers must have felt pressured from the song selection stage, from they ‘selected’ popular songs becouse they would quickly get a response that they were good at it or not. What I felt after watching the Changwon City Chorale’s veranda concert was that they were ‘really good at performing’. They were able to fully demonstrate the skills and capabilities of the professionals while maintaining popularity.
The ‘choices’ that showed a lot of courage while preparing for the performance were willingly ‘chosen’ in the hearts of the citizens. A veranda concert on a spring day where apartment residents enjoyed looking out the window, driving strollers, sitting on benches, eating snacks, and taking photos as much as they wanted! Next time, I hope that our neighborhood will be chosen as the venue for the Veranda Concert.
