The opening ceremony of the 57th Jinhae Gunhangje Festival will be held on March 31st, and the festival will be held from April 1st to 10th in the area of Jinhae-gu. The Military Music Festival is to be held between April 5th and 7th. The commemoration ceremony for Admiral Yi Sun-shin is to be held at 1:00 p.m. on April 6th and 7th. The Jinhae Gunhangje Festival is originated from the worshipping the Admiral Yi every year from 1953. Last year, 3.1 million tourists visited the festival.
For the festival, programs have been prepared by improving links with near tradition-al market and tourist attractions. Also, there are effort to plan the night-programs to attract tourists staying in Changwon. As the city declared that 2019 is ‘the first years of Changwon’s economic revival’, the city is planning to boom local markets through holding the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival.

There will be lots of new events. The city is planning Stamp Tour of Modern Cul-ture and History Street for about 5,000 tourists, and cherry blossom-related sou-venirs will be sold around Yeojwacheon.
To revitalize the traditional market, there will be a surprise auction in Jungang Market (central market), and product donated by merchants will be selling at the amazing price of 1,000 won. Also, during two days of the festival, there will be the ‘Youth Night and Beer Festival’ to offer free beer when people buy food for drinking in Jungang Market. If you buy goods in the Market and post a proof shoot on SNS, the first 100 people win a gift certificate worth around 3,000 won at Jungang Market.

There will be big events not to be missed. There will be Multimedia Firework on the Sea at 6:00 p.m. on April 4th around the Sokcheon port. ‘2019 Changwon International Motorboat Grand-Prix’ will be held, and ‘2019 Changwon National Marine Sports Games’ will be held for 3 days from April 5th to 7th.
There will be a wonderful show in the sky to celebrate the Gunhangje Festival, which is Korean airforce air show – Black Eagles starting after 2:30 p.m. on April 5th. Eight supersonic speed trainer aircrafts (T-50B) made in Korea will show highly-trained flying performance in the sky above the Bukwon junction.
After sunset, there will be night events to keep up the heat of festival. The city is planning to create light street around the Jungang Market, using exterior lightings at night. At the Owl village, Jinhae Square, and other area near around Mount Jehwang Park, light tunnel, baby’s breath-shaped and tulip-shaped lights, other kinds of lights will be installed.
