Yeojwadong people who love books are all gathered here! On the way to the interview in the morning, my steps speed up, and the cheerful cherry blossom theme song are humming by itself. Sure enough, Yeojwa Small Library is located on the 2nd floor of the Blossom Community Center, the best place in Yeojwa-dong where cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
If you remember the photo zone that welcomes you with a picture of cherry blossoms and a swing located on the corner of the road at the Yeojwa-dong Community Service Center, you have already reached the Yeojwa Small Library. It opened on November 9, 2021, and it is said to be a cherry blossom library!
Here, I lifted my head slightly, and there is a banner that awarded the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Grand Prize in the exhibition category of regional specialized products in the ‘2022 Urban Recreation Festival’ nationwide.
I thought that the glory of the Grand Prize could not have been without the participation of many volunteers and residents.
Library operation
Regular customers are kindergarteners and teenagers, as well as the elderly and young adults who are the patrons of this area! For them, a total of 2,800 books, including general, and children’s books, are available. In particular, there are many popular webtoons (on-line comics) for young people. It has also been used as a place for various reading programs such as special lectures for youth, lectures by writers, and movie screenings.
Monday! Are small libraries closed like regular public libraries? The answer is that a volunteer is working as a librarian every Monday, so we can use their service on Mondays.
If, on Mondays when Jinhae Library is closed and you are unable to borrow books then use this Yeojwa Small Library. If you have an alien card(residence card) and Korean cellphone number under your name then you are able to have the card. Since the library system of Changwon City is unified, search for books through the ‘Changwon City Library’ app or general public library homepage, and then use the Changwon Public Library ‘Book Connection’ card. Books can be also borrowed from the Yeojwa Small Library.
Also, if you lose your ‘Book Connection’ card, you can reapply for the card through the app.

Even today, local residents participate in book discussions and visit Yeojwa Small Library for reading and education such as English education. And, as a cultural space, visit the Blossom Community Center, which is the mother of the Yeojwa Small Library in the same building.
Blossom Community Center has held various educational and cultural classes such as Nanta, rattan craft, and pottery classes, and the next class will be held as an adult program after April. Each lecture provides a program that reflects the trend, and each lecture was held 10 times, and the program continues with the steady attendance of local residents.

The library operation program is closely related to the activities of Blossom Yeojwa Social Cooperative. The Blossom Yeojwa Social Cooperative has a system to return a portion of the profits to the local community through the operation of the Blossom Community Center program and scholarship support for a total of 5 elementary, middle, and high schools.
