Rest area under Machang Bridge opens

Waterfront deck, observation and resting place, sky staircase, square to be built

The city opened an observation and rest area under the Machang Bridge in Gwisan-dong(귀산동) on Oct. 22.

The rest area on a lot of 2,000 square meters under the bridge is comprised of a waterfront deck, sky staircase, green space, the wild flower garden and an observation pavilion.

Visitors can enjoy the scenic coast while going up along the sky staircase, and are greeted by different flowers in each season at the wild flower garden and arch frame of rose shrub. On the top of the staircase are symbolic sculptures of three turtles wishing for integration and longevity. Visitors can command a fine view of the Machang Bridge and the Masan Bay at the octagonal pavilion.

In particular, illumination lights are installed for a night view of the scenic Masan Bay from the observation and rest area.

“The idle land has changed to a new cultural space where citizens can enjoy beautiful scenery of the city such as the Machang Bridge and the Masan Bay,” said a city official.
