Sewage recycling center in Jinhae-gu(진해구) to begin operations

Facility capable of treating 10,000 tons of sewage per day

A sewage recycling center in eastern Jinhae-gu(진해구) will begin operations late this month after three years of construction, city officials said.

The new facility will treat sewage discharged by individual households and development facilities.

The center was built on a plot of 15,557 square meters in Namyang-dong(남양동), Jinhae-gu(진해구), at a total cost of 34.1 billion won.

It is equipped with state-of-the-art underground facilities which are capable of treating 10,000 tons of sewage per day, and has a park and sports facilities on the ground to help residents improve health and conduct leisure activities.

The center is equipped with up-to-date sewage treatment facilities built with KSMBR, an advanced wastewater treatment technology for sub-unit localization to preserve and restore streamlets which are susceptible to contamination due to urban renewal projects.

The center will contribute to the improvement of residential environment, the officials said.
In addition, people no longer need to have sewage treatment facility or sewage disposal tank when they construct buildings, thus helping the district house more residential and commercial properties.

Besides, operating the sewage recycling facility will help improve the quality of water and preserve the natural ecosystem, the officials said. Previously, sewage contaminated nearby rivers and the Ungdong Bay.
