The official opening ceremony of the Changwon History and Folklore Museum was held in Sarim-dong on Aug. 24.
Construction of the museum, located beside the House of Changwon, started in March 2010. Since its completion in April, the museum has been open to the public.
The two-story building with one basement floor was built at a total cost of 9.5 billion won. It has a combined floor space of 3,238 square meters.
It has exhibition rooms and storage space in the basement. History halls are located on the first floor, and the second floor features folklore indigenous to the region.
The museum also has a rest area for citizens named “Numaru,” crafts shop and convenience store.
In celebration of the opening of the museum, the city has provided citizens with a variety of educational programs, such as a crafts experience class, since Sept. 1.
